NSK Bearing was founded in 1916 and produced the first ball bearings made in Japan. Since then, the company has been leading the development of bearings in Japan. NSK now offers a full range of bearings and sells them worldwide. NSK Bearings has greatly contributed to the growth of many industries and the advancement of mechanical technology. The company has the largest share of the bearing market in Japan and is one of the largest bearing suppliers in the world. NSK Rulman's expertise in precision machining technology has been refined in Bearing manufacturing for years, NSK Rulman Automotive Products, NSK Bearing Precision Machinery and Parts, NSK Bearing Mechatronics products.

Following the establishment of its first overseas sales office in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA since the early 1960s, NSK has continued to establish businesses abroad and has continuously strengthened its global presence. In the 1970s, NSK Bearing established a manufacturing subsidiary outside the city of Sao Paolo in Brazil, followed by other new manufacturing subsidiaries in North America, the UK and Asia. In the 1990s, NSK acquired UPI, the largest bearing manufacturer in the UK known by its RHP brand. The expansion of production and sales locations in all European markets has resulted in a stronger market presence of NSK Rulman in Europe.
